The Best Way to Hang Frames for a Gallery Wall

Image
I had a bunch of family picture frames just leaning against the wall in hopes that someday, they would all crawl up the wall, find a nail and look amazing. Unfortunately that never happened so I knew my next best chance was Pinterest to find a solution. (Can you believe I didn’t Google it?  Pinterest is awesome!)   I ran across Marissa’s blog Roost   via Pinterest and found this great idea on how to get my pictures off the floor and on the wall. I have to say, her technique turned out GREAT!  Not just great, I'd say amazing.  It is fairly simple, not too time consuming and I didn’t have 50 holes in my wall trying to make it look right!!!!!  Yeah!! First lay out your frames on the floor how you would like to see them on the wall.  Have fun with it, try all different arrangements.  (hey, it’s just the floor, no nails yet.) Next tape together long sheets of wax paper. Turn all your frames upside down and lay the...

Well, the day has finally come that we get to LIVE in our NEW HOME!  Excited would be an understatement……. Shall I give you the tour?   I just wish I could offer you a glass of wine while we “walk” through it. I’ll do this in two (or 3,4,5) posts  because I took a gazillion pictures and I think there might be a rule about having more than 50 pictures on one post.  Maybe  House Tour Part 1: (It’s not decorated yet my friends…..give me some time!!!) The entry: (for those that have asked about the Tuscan Door be sure and check out the post) The entry looking up: Remember the doorbell chime box I bought?  Totally fits in with the theme. Looking into the dining from the iron grille window : ...

Trip to the Dentist–Laughing Gas and Four Year Olds Fess Up

Image
These pictures were just too funny not to share.  My daughter just had her first trip to the dentist for a filling.  To say the least, it was stressful, even the laughing gas was not doing much.  When that drill went off the screams went off with it! BEFORE we left: (she was actually really excited to go…..I didn’t have the heart to tell her…….. ) DURING the visit: Daughter: “OWE, YOU POKED ME!!!” Dentist: ”No, I promise I didn’t poke you, I’m just polishing your teeth, if you are really good I’ll get you a popsicle after” Daughter : SCREAM!!! “You just did it again!” Dentist : “No, it’s just a tool I use to make your teeth look like princess teeth.” Daughter :  “I want pink.” (referring to the popsicle….) Dentist :  “OK, we’ll get you a pink popsicle but you HAVE to stop moving.” PAUSE Daughter: “Does it have sugar bugs?” (contemplating that I tell her sugar bugs give her cavities) Dentist :  “Ummmmm….ya, it does.” Dau...

How to install your own Kitchen Hardware (Knobs and Handles) Photos and a Story

Image
First off I need to tell you…… The knobs were a PIECE OF CAKE The handles……. NIGHTMARE!!!  So now begins my post I always knew that I wanted handles and knobs on my cabinets. (They make SUCH a difference!) What is a bummer is those handles do not come standard in new home construction packages!  They make you pay extra which is just silly when you are doing a custom home.  The cabinet guys said they would charge me $1.50 a screw (which I believe that if your handle has two screws, it would be $3.00 to screw in the handle)  I guess I gave him a surprised look and  he went on to tell me that it wasn’t easy and if anyone makes a mistake, it’s a whole new door they have to buy……. By now, you guys know me pretty well (hee, hee) so I looked at the cabinet guy and said, “Did you see my front door ? Well I did that myself so I better be able to screw in knobs!!!” He just shrugged and acted a little miffed that I didn't jump on...
