House Tour Part Four–the Master Bedroom and Bath

Image
Next up, the master bedroom!  I really love it but it has LOTS of windows (5 large windows to be exact!) and we have no blinds……that is a problem, I need to get blinds very soon ~ ha! Hallway down to master bedroom, we have the room on the main floor while the kids rooms are upstairs.  I carried the clay into the master bedroom as well. Looking straight on, once I get the bed in the room I’ll take more pictures of the other side of the room.  For those wondering, yes, I did make the curtains and I will be sure and write a post soon how I did them.  You’ll like it because I just used the hem stuff that you iron on!  It doesn’t get much easier than that Right off the bedroom is the Master Bath: I knew I would put the clay piece I made right over the tub.  If you want more information on the art just click Clay Art . That’s it!  We have the toilet and the shower through a pocket door and the walk in closet off the bathroom too…..but...

Hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.  We went to our friends house for Easter, the same wonderful friends who lets us come over every Christmas for an amazing Christmas dinner . Everything she does is always so beautiful  - I  so enjoy photographing all that she does for us! Here was our pretty spring tulip filled table.   I just loved the little name plates with the delicate flowers! The kids had so much fun, here was their special Easter table! The chocolate eggs had to be a favorite! Well, the chocolate eggs and the actual egg hunt!!  How do you like those green boots!  She loves picking out her shoes! The egg hiders did a great job.  Plenty of eggs up high…….. and lots of eggs down low! There you have it!!!  Have a great week my friends! ~ Selina Creative Juices Decor~

Easy DIY Valance from Old Picture Frame

Image
During our  move,  glass from a long and narrow picture frame broke.  Normally I would have just tossed it (it was now useless – right?) but this blogging stuff really makes you look twice at EVERY thing you see.  To be honest with you, it’s pretty ridiculous, it’s hard to throw away anything now!!! So after staring at the frame a while, the crafty blogging light bulb went off and I realized I could totally use it for a valance in my daughters room! NEW valance from OLD useless Picture frame! All I did was throw out the broken glass, Used the cardboard that it came with and wrapped that in bubble wrap. (It’s just what was handy, as that was the material it had been wrapped up in for the move.) Next I took a pillow sham I bought at the thrift store and wrapped that around the bubble wrapped cardboard. I just taped the fabric to stay together. (if the fabric looks familiar, I used the other identical pillow sham to upholster this chair for h...

From Baby to Big Girl. Re-Purposing Furniture to Meet your Need.

Image
Today’s post is just about my 4 year old daughter’s “changing” table I bought 2nd hand off Craigslist.  She obviously doesn’t use the changing table any more (or let’s hope not!) so I had to think how I could change it to meet her needs now.  I normally don’t allow a lot of TV during the day but I am a pretty big fan of classic Disney Movies (the old ones!).  We had an extra TV and an old VIDEO player so I turned this changing table into a movie station.  (just drilled a hole in the back for the cords!) I can buy the great Disney classics between .75 ¢ – $1.50 at almost any thrift store so I have fun stocking up. . Since her “big girl" room has changed from a light wood to white I knew I wanted to spray paint the unit.  I bought a dual primer/paint from Wal-mart for $5.00 a can.  I used 4 cans!  I could have used a brush and paint but I wanted super easy so that’s how I’m justifying the $20.00 spent on paint!  (it WAS super easy and only...

Fess Up Friday- My Real Life

Image
A lot of times it’s easy to assume a bloggers house is always clean, the children are always amazing and the dinners always fabulous! (I mean that’s all I show you – right?)  So I thought a "fun"   fess up   post about the reality of my new home would be “eventful”. Within the first few weeks of living in the new house we have had: 1.) A broken door. HOW did that happen? you might ask.   Contrary to popular grandparent belief my kids aren’t actually perfect but they are children that run around the house like wild animals tantalizing each other and slamming doors while the other sibling runs into it.   And THAT is how you crack a solid wood door.    We made them pitch in $30.00 of their hard earned money and told them  NO MORE MONKEY’s JUMPING ON THE BED!!! (in other words, no more slamming doors in the other siblings face or there will be a price to pay!!!) 2.) A laundry soap disaster. The two older...

House Tour part THREE - Kid Cubbies and Powder Room

Image
Alright, now you get to see what is behind curtain # 3 the arched hallway. My very favorite thing……the kids CUBBIES! NO more coats, lunchboxes and school work thrown around the house.  You have no idea how happy this makes me! This is actually not a built in, I purchased pieces from HuntWood cabinets and had them install them along with the kitchen cabinets! I bought the baskets at Michaels - baskets are amazing. They hide a multitude of sins :-)   And you see that shiny bowl in the corner of the photo above??? You didn’t think I forgot to have a place for the dog’s dishes do you?  hee,hee Oh he’s a little spoiled……but he sure is cute   I mean just look, that IS a smile on his face – right? Almost forgot, the powder room (bathroom) is also past the hall. Upclose of the clay wall.  I tried to make it look like a crumbled concrete wall :-)  I know, some people might think I'm werid...... Alight – up the st...
