Trip to the Dentist–Laughing Gas and Four Year Olds Fess Up

Image
These pictures were just too funny not to share.  My daughter just had her first trip to the dentist for a filling.  To say the least, it was stressful, even the laughing gas was not doing much.  When that drill went off the screams went off with it! BEFORE we left: (she was actually really excited to go…..I didn’t have the heart to tell her…….. ) DURING the visit: Daughter: “OWE, YOU POKED ME!!!” Dentist: ”No, I promise I didn’t poke you, I’m just polishing your teeth, if you are really good I’ll get you a popsicle after” Daughter : SCREAM!!! “You just did it again!” Dentist : “No, it’s just a tool I use to make your teeth look like princess teeth.” Daughter :  “I want pink.” (referring to the popsicle….) Dentist :  “OK, we’ll get you a pink popsicle but you HAVE to stop moving.” PAUSE Daughter: “Does it have sugar bugs?” (contemplating that I tell her sugar bugs give her cavities) Dentist :  “Ummmmm….ya, it does.” Dau...

Finally–We Got the Green Light. Our New Home.

Image
I’m not even sure I should write this post because this is not the FIRST time I thought we had the green light to build.  Maybe it’s just because I need some excitement in my life so I’m just going to write it and say WE GOT THE GREEN LIGHT!  Supposedly, hopefully, God willing,  we’ll start building in July. (Maybe August or September if we run into obstacles, which we seem to do quite a bit!)   We have wanted to build for 4 years now and have owned the property for 6 years. Picture of our 1 acre property.  Grandma and Papa’s house is right next door, and guess what,  the children  in the picture came with the price of the property. Kind of an all in one package!  Ya, we got a killer deal!  (-: For the past few years I have made due by putting my creative energy into crafts and other fun stuff .  We are renting right now and although I wanted to tell the owners that anything I did to the house would increase the value, they d...

Final School Projects–A Candy Cane Invention

Image
OK seriously, I’m supposed to make my daughter’s invented candy school assignment at home with her and what does she tell me she invented???  “Candy Cane My Way”  a tuttie fruity candy cane made with melted fruit roll ups and pop rock candy!   I was thinking, WHAATTT?  I don’t even know how to make candy (if you’ve read this blog for a while you know that I try to bake fairly healthy.)  Step # 1, Google how to make pulled sugar (which is the structure for candy canes).  I found the “how to” and this is just one paragraph: “Pulling and stretching the candy is intrinsic to the texture of pulled sugar, but it can be dangerous. Be very careful not to burn yourself when pulling taffy. Do not handle the candy until it is cool enough to touch, and beware that candy that feels cool on the surface can be burning hot underneath. I recommend wearing a pair of latex gloves (or two) while pulling candy, to prevent burns and overheating .” ( about.com ) Doesn...

Inspirational Pictures– Kitchen eating nook and hanging beds

Image
OK, this kitchen was just cool.  I love the idea of incorporating a kitchen table nook right off the island.  It seems that everyone loves to gather around in the kitchen and hang out so why not make it easy!  All the bead board and the mix of colored wood is great. elledecor.com These beds are crazy!  I think the rope is not really holding them up and there is a post in the center of the twin beds.  (I can only hope –right!) And I want to live here…….seriously. Come take a Tour of my own home ! ~ Creative Juices Decor~

Easter Pictures, Eggs and Candy

Image
Wow!  My kids have so much candy from yesterday I’m not quite sure how to handle it!  My sister in law stuffs hundreds of eggs FILLED with candy and we hide them on my in laws 2 acre property.  The 10 grandkids go WILD! Here are some of my favorite pictures of the day.  My youngest is the only one that still lets me dress her up and loves to get her picture taken,  therefore almost all the photos I take are of her!!!  Sorry other kiddos! Running frantically with her younger cousin to grab as many eggs as possible! Time to sit and count all her Easter eggs.  (oh, and eat a LOT of candy while doing that!) Grandma and Papa’s house comes complete with swings and a slide! All in a days work. Getting tired, but still counting those eggs! I hope your Easter was special.  Thanks for stopping by and I promise I'll have some FUN crafts and design stuff coming up! ~ Creative Juices Decor~

I Blog to Hide From the Laundry- Fess Up Friday

Image
I was just wondering, does anyone else see this pattern in their laundry piles?  Seriously folks, I didn't manipulate this picture!  This is how it looks every week on laundry day!  For a split second (it was a very quick second) I had the thought that maybe I was the one with the problem (I do sometimes wear the same socks twice, that is one of my “fess ups”) but REALLY, this is SO off balance!  Is it because I am the one that DOES the laundry that the other members of the household have NO remorse throwing that MAYBE dirty shirt in the laundry?? Also, when they throw it in the hamper they know that it comes back to their room folded AND put away! I mean who wouldn't want that?!  Hummmm……..Times need to change. My mother just sent me a book called Housekeeping Skills for Kids It’s how to turn your children into slaves, oh,  I mean how to teach your children the skills they will need to run their OWN homes,...

Get those Creative Juices Flowing

Image
Today’s post is just eye candy to get those Creative Juices going.  Recently I've had the privilege to get to know Lauren of   West Furniture Revival  her blog is tons of fun (believe me, you'll be laughing!) and full of great ideas.  I featured her  chest make over a while back.  On her blog she has a tab labeled "inspire me" where I found some of these pictures, I got to thinking it would be fun to do a tab called "Eye Candy", pictures off the internet that get our Creative Juices going.  As soon as I finish the novel I've been reading, oh I mean get my house clean I'm going to do that!  (hee, hee)  ENJOY and be inspired!  I sure was! An old ceiling tin (from a flee market) as a piece of art!  So simple and beautiful.    All Things Home   Cottage Romance   used a lonely thrift store headboard for this wall art.  Great idea – I am completely ...

Oh Shoot! It’s Official

Image
Be Sure And Enter My First Give-A- Way!  Ends April 3rd midnight PST When I found my daughter taking pictures of her soggy shredded wheat one morning I realized I had officially crossed the line into the crazy blogging mother that spends too much time has a blog .  I guess I will accept that I have my camera with me at all times and that I do take 50 different angled pictures of a regular sloppy joe I just made.  (somehow I WILL make this pathetic dish look amazing!) As I am writing this blog post I can hear her in the background clicking the camera, talking to our dog saying,  “Oh Tay Duke, say Teese!’ But if I wasn’t so camera happy I wouldn’t have caught moments like this – so once again, because I need to re-affirm myself that taking 50 pictures of my sloppy joes is not weird, I will say, I am OK with this.         Our Goldendoodle dog puts up with so much child torture love.   ...
